     A lot of people who write dark stories are just in it for the bad end though, which isn't fun for anyone but sadists.

     A good writer makes his story dark story in order to convey a message or a moral. even the darkest of classical stories were understood to be the author trying to convey how he felt at that point.
     
     Making your story dark for the sake of it is just tasteless and pointless.
