   The goal of the fediverse has not been (nor should it be) to recreate some version or other of a shithole.

   It can be (and is) so much more.

     @spartakos I wish I’d observed early warning signs. I basically fell hook, line, and sinker for Tim O’Reilly’s “Open API”/Web 2.0 ruse. Even created a Twitter app back in the day (https://ar.al/3101/). Thinking (as we were told) that we were helping “the open Web” by consuming Open APIs. Absolutely clueless that an API key is like the key to a lock you do not own and which can be changed at any time by the actual owner.

     It’s been a long journey. The only thing I can say is, “fool me once…”
