When you're constantly told as a kid that the internet is this super-dangerous place where everybody you're talking to might want to abduct you, you tend to cultivate a more cautious mindset that's hard to take advantage of for a prospective child toucher. Conversely, when your head is stuffed full of bullshit about "safe spaces", you end up super vulnerable to any fucker who can lie at least moderately well, pretending to give a shit about whatever "mental health crisis" you've self-diagnosed with. :a_disgust:

@Giganova8 @rlier23 @SNEK playing MMO's as a kid was a net good imo. Getting Catfished on runescape/maplestory or getting scammed a bunch of gold/mesos legitimately taught you true valuable lessons imo.
Anyone else remember being told to always use a avatar (not your real face), a handle (not your real name).
They hate the image avatar users because they hate the fact that you refuse to give up your dividing wall. So it's harder for them to doxx you and cancel/harass people you know.
