Listening to RNZ now, I'm appalled by gov't's decisions to roll back climate action commitments due to natural disasters caused by climate catastrophes. Who was it who said that 'humanity is the only species that will be unable to save itself from extinction because doing so isn't cost-effective'?

Dave Lane 🇳🇿 (lightweight@mastodon.nzoss.nz)'s status on Tuesday, 14-Mar-2023 05:15:51 JST Dave Lane 🇳🇿 to be fair, biofuels is sorta missing the point. We need to *reduce* energy use, not switch forms (trading off CO2 for land use, which will also add CO2). Similarly hydrogen. But why stop the frickin' bottle return scheme?! It's already 30years overdue.

In either case it's best for us to give our vote to the 3rd parties so they have more sway!

Jeremy Jupiter Jones (jeremy_pm@mastodon.nz)'s status on Tuesday, 14-Mar-2023 05:22:08 JST Jeremy Jupiter Jones @lightweight Call me cynical but, imo, this is a purely strategic manoeuvre by Hipkins. Appealing more to the centre leaving a greater space for the Greens and Te Pati Māori to fill. This works in 2 ways, giving centre right voters motive to vote Labour to minimise Green & Māori Party influence in the next government but also a clear path for left wing and climate change voters to follow. #NZPol
