@Shadowman311 Shrek's voice was completely redone. I don't recall if both were Mike Myers, but the Scottish accent was the second choice after the first attempt fell completely flat. It may have involved improv, which would have required redoing lots of animation.

The Shrek book is very weird, the movie has nothing to do with it aside from the character name.
