American society, politics in particular, exists several layers abstract from material reality. Politics in particular as politics is just abstracted violence. This of course benefits the left, which is a coalition of biotrash reliant on this abstraction. The issue now being that they've convinced themselves that they can motte and bailey political violence, ie create a state of exception for it and then "return to normalcy." This is necessary because the left has exhibited its actual capacity for violence in 2020, and it's not particularly impressive.

Attempted assassinations bring in political violence, and that's a wild card. The USG probably can't withstand red tribe deciding to switch from deer to beaureaucrats, but these doors open when you tacitly endorse political violence. Red tribe is restrained primarily out of fear of losing civil society, take the baseline expectations away and you've got 70 million dudes who have 0 buy in.

Not sustainable. Long term they're either going to cut us in or fight it out. Either option is a win.
