As much I would like Elon's Twitter to be dead and replaced by something more ethical, it's still the most public forum so far and I don't think that removing myself from public forums helps me and what I care about 😞

In other words, you’re as public as Elon Musk allows you to be. He controls your volume and he can mute you when he likes (and he doesn’t even have to tell you when he does). So, really, not a public forum at all.

Martin De Wulf (madewulf@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 14-Sep-2024 20:17:04 JST Martin De Wulf @aral I know perfectly well the downsides, the lack of transparency and the control, but as long as a ton of the public institutions (that I and the company I work for are working with) are using that service for broadcasting, the cost of leaving is high.
And I mean well meaning institutions like WHO, WFP, the Vaccination insitute of Cameroon and many many more, not Enron.
