@rher @not_benis @Myles A lot of this has to do with the widespread longterm anti-Catholicism present within Anglo culture. In the HRE they learned to live and let live after several wars, whereas in some parts of Anglo culture you nutjobs adopting increasingly insane conspiracy theories to try and deny that Catholics are even Christian (Trail of Blood) and instead claim descent from Gnostic dualists (Cathars) to get around the fact of Western Christianity's common heritage.
