@arstechnica Dang, out of the budget I’d pay for a soldering iron since I only use one like once a year but that it an awesome idea that I’m surprised hasn’t been done.
When I do use one it’s usually a hassle working the relatively short plug around my desk.

@arstechnica Unless you have an offgrid log cabin somewhere in the woods and you need to solder there regularly, this is completely pointless. For those once-in-a-blue-moon odd jobs that have to be done where there are no outlets, there are propane soldering irons at a fraction of the cost.
