America is drowning in foodstuffs that are absurdly calorically dense and chock full of preservatives. If you're reasonably prepared and able and willing to fend off scavengers, you can figure things out.

Most people are in spite of the abundance we're surrounded by. Which is why your best bet will be to find a remote and secure location where you can stockpile food and ammo and ride things out.
