@weaf >calling me a right winger
>posting operation unthinkable as though it's relevant at all
i debated acknowledging this in my post but thought it didn't matter because it's so obvious that they never seriously gave a shit about doing this
-
@CatLord >put it in writing at the Yalta conference that Poland would have a democratic government
>Stalin violates the agreement
>plan an operation to liberate Poland
>abandon it because you'd probably lose
>80 years later people will think you didn't care
Don't force me to defend the fat retard Churchill over this one.
-
@CatLord Can you think of any other country besides Germany that would have attacked Poland in 1939? Not even the Poles expected a Soviet invasion.
-
@weaf britain cared enough to wreck their own country and most of europe in a deadly war with the axis that killed millions of people but not enough to continue it against the ussr, for supposedly the same reason. darn. the british guarantee of poland was not for the sake of poland. if it were, they would have declared war on the ussr in 1939, and they would not have had an explicit clause in their guarantee that limited their defence of poland to an attack on germany.
-
@weaf Why did they specify Germany in a secret clause then, and not simply retain the public guarantee of "a European country"? Britain did not fight Germany to the detriment of their empire and the entire continent, for 5 years, because of the independence of Poland.
France didn't even have a fucking secret clause, and merely had a sovereign defence agreement with Poland, and they didn't give a shit about the Soviets invading two weeks later either.

@CatLord If Britian only gave a shit about Germany, why did they wait nine whole months to actually engage the German army after Poland fell? Perhaps both were completely unprepared for another continental war with Germany? Hence the hesitation to also declare on the USSR?
