The British guarantee of Poland was publicly a blanket guarantee of their independence. In reality, it contained a secret clause that specified Britain would only assist Poland, if the attacker were Germany. It was designed specifically to get into war with Germany.
That's why Britain didn't give a shit when the USSR invaded Poland, two weeks after Germany, and ultimately gave Poland to the USSR after the war.- Ardainian Hebrew Israelite likes this.
