     @RupertvonRipp We don’t need dogfighters for most deployments the US does, they’re super, hopelessly overmatched against everyone they pick a fight with. Makes sense to constantly make it so you can lob ordnance at toyotas around the world

     A fighter isn't a bomber isn't a scout isn't ground support etc.

     TBH would kinda freak me out to think the US just did an open bid, because I’d wonder if they had to accept some “small business” in order to make these kits. Imagine today, (this was back in ‘17), when you find out your ragged old plane is held together with a bunch of parts sourced from “alabama’s first all-female, black-owned machine shop company” because they ticked the right boxes.

     Every flex, every time you look out the side and see the wings bow upwards would be a moment of terse ass-puckering

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @RupertvonRipp You get 7.0 (10.0 on block 52) in straight up CAT-1 stores config, figure 1200 lbs for taxi, takeoff and climbout. Its why you almost always see them mount the centerline 300.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @RupertvonRipp There's a lot that goes into that number. Stores config, t/o weight, mission altitude profile, winds aloft, etc. F-16 doesn't CG like your typical type cert plane, FLCS has interesting effects on drag. 2-2.5 hours including a 20-25 minute pattern reserve or a 150-200mi divert field is reasonable planning.
