   Very interesting conversation between @parismarx and @danmcquillan on #TechWontSaveUs about #AI.

   In terms of their critique on AI, its "huge potential" and the "future benefits" @danmcquillan suggests a way to contemplate progressive technologies: a kind of "prefigurative politics", that starts with envisioning better worlds, and then creating the technologies that are consistent with those worlds.

     I find this argument very convincing because, obviously, it helps us to avoid the "end justifies the means" slippery slope.

     It also makes sense from an engineering point of view: first, focus on the problem. Then, devise solutions and choose the right tools for the job.

     It can also serve free software volunteer contributors, as a tool to find which projects deserve your time.
