Donno about you but preparing the ingredients is my favorite part of cooking.
(Really enjoying ordering these HelloFresh meals we’ve been getting. It’s teaching me a lot about cooking too.)

That phase of making a meal is called "mise en place," French for "putting in place." I find it very meditative. You can be focused, take your time, and not worry about much because there's no flame or special skill involved.
Once done, you just follow the rest of the recipe's instructions. Everything is where you need it to be. Inexperienced cooks tend to run around their kitchens, looking for ingredients just as they need them to go into the pot.
Not us.
We got this.
Mise en place.
And the result :) (Spicy mushroom ramen with charred garlic oak choi.)
Mind you, my presentation could use some work :)

@martijn Thank you. Oddly, I just saw that I wasn’t following you. New account or is something a little odd with mine.
@aral
Looks good 👌
@emzee I don’t know, the angle of the lime wedge seems entirely off and is bothering me way more than is reasonable and I could have wiped the top of the bowl (and chosen one without a chip in it)… but thank you :)
@aral
Your presentation is actually very good.
Well done!
@zinzy Haha, that’s what I did (chopsticks help) or you flail around with a knife while trying not to splash yourself; not the most ergonomic design :)
@aral I actually like that presentation! What I want to know is: how in the world do people eat big things like that pak choi in a bowl of soup? You just… bite?
