   Microsoft medium and Mozilla are all opting in to the fediverse

   I see many science and tech organizations opting in and a push to make it the backbone of the academic world.

   I think some media outlets are trying to portray it as "uncool" and "nerdy" in the same way that Google plus fizzled out since it was mostly just a space for Google engineers and hence had limited cultural offerings.

   As an artist I feel the fact that this place is about to blow up makes it a good place to set up camp in for the long haul.

   I'm still working on my niche in the fediverse as an artist but I feel inspired by being here and hope that folks don't err on the side of taking the humanities for granted.

     @NoahH I wonder, might the fediverse be the best shelter currently for artists/writers/etc from the incoming tsunami of spam from ChatGPT, etc? As long as it remains somewhat niche?

     I don't know, I'm just scared for you. And my audioshow review hobby.

     @alcinnz I feel about as threatened by AI as I do by realty TV as a mode of production.

     I'm not going for mass production of cheap crap and as long as I have a message that is at least amusing enough to keep me interested in my own work it's a win.

     I'm already fucked as a starving artist might as well enjoy the ride.

     @NoahH Yeah, I don't see it competing in terms of quality any time soon. What I'm scared of is your ability to reach an audience when people like me (and agents, magazines, etc) have an even more massive garbage heap to dig through to find you.

     It takes very few bad actors to make that a reality!

     @alcinnz it only underscores the value of having a venue to sort that garbage heap without the added weight of the constant exertion of pressure by an ad bias algorithm.
