I think the problem here isn't that law enforcement is buying information we think they should get a warrant for, but that information we think law enforcement should need a warrant for is available for purchase at all. In other words, surveillance capitalism is the problem.

Not that all cops aren't bastards, just that trying to put special limits on cops that don't apply to private actors isn't going to work.
