   "What's a good adhesive to keep these carpet runners on the stairs" sounds like an innocent question but, having pulled the thread about why they weren't sticking in the first place, other things have come up, and we're now into a discussion of extremely noncompliant house wiring and I'm being very careful not to ask about plumbing.

     @munin it's a certain skill you learn and can't really turn off. You smell wrongness hidden under things, and you have to look
