     @MechaSilvio there are a few light spoilers but as someone who's seen basically none of the series I don't even remember what they were beyond "Zeon loses the One Year War"

     Zeon are too cool to be allowed to win.
     Even when spacenoids are made the good guys they are specifically separate from Zeon (instead being the Anti Earth Union Group) to keep federation ideals as the "good guy ideals".
