@arstechnica But don't those inorganic dyes last a long time without fading. Copper, chromium, arsenic, cadmium sulfide, cadmium selenide, mercuric sulfide, lead carbonate, lead chromate (used to paint road markers, signs, and school buses!). It's so hard to replace transition metal pigments and semiconductor nanocrystals.
