   @roboneko @l0ngyap @Terry @icedquinn @Soy_Magnus Also notable is that from what I understand, ProtonMail was not logging anything till they were compelled by Swiss regulations. If they would not have complied and simply closed the activist’s account, every single user would have been in jeopardy instead. It sucks, yes. But it is better than the alternative.

     @roboneko @Soy_Magnus @Terry @icedquinn @l0ngyap It’s in their TOS even for their VPN. They can’t ignore a court order without getting shut down. Nor can anyone operating a business.

     Relevant line:

     These Terms and Conditions shall be governed in all respects by the substantive laws of Switzerland.
