     What I take form these facts is that they live in a niche that no other species was able to evolve into. They live in one of the most harsh places on the planet.

     Seems like once they got there, they had little competition and therefore, little need to evolve.

     That doesn't mean they can't evolve.

     This is just doom saying for the shock value, nothing more. Nothing to see here, folks.

     Again, correlation is *not* causation!
