@eff they could’ve handled this so much better by just putting a checkbox in the window that pops up after an upgrade saying, “Enable this feature so that we can get rid of tracking cookies altogether”
@eff@FastCompany Mozilla has messed up so bad I'm legitimately looking into alternatives like Vivaldi. The whole freaking *POINT* of Firefox was supposed to be that it had all the privacy/etc that Chromium lacked. And then they go and go the same direction as Chromium. We don't need or want that feature, but putting that aside, they shouldn't have made it opt out instead of opt in if what they said is true.
At this point we need an "Unmozillaed Firefox" much like the "Ungoogled Chrome."
@eff@FastCompany What the fuck is wrong with you!? Every damn penny I ever donated to you all has been a waste if this is the kind of hot trash you support.
@eff@FastCompany Defaulting to opt-out will always be poor form with features like these. Everyone knows it, deep down. It was inappropriate, and leaders in Mozilla have been unwilling to listen *sincerely* to complaints. (Case in point here on Mastodon: https://mastodon.social/@neonharbinger/112785168217396831) Mozilla clearly think it's the users who are in the wrong, who should expect their consent to be assumed when Mozilla thinks they should consent.
