Heh! Took M$ long enough.

Ignore the soyboy giving more "grounded and unbiased" reasons (i.e. sucking Micro$hit's and Mojang's dicks) for the changes.
RIP Minecraft 2009-2014

@SuperSnekFriend @mactonite >gleaning laws and piracy
elaborate please

@branman65 @mactonite
The Lord forbids prodcuers to maximize profits and squeeze every last ounce from their cows, sheep, and fields, so to speak, especially for the benefit of the poor:
"When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.
When you beat your olive trees, you shall not go over them again. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow.
When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not strip it afterward. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow.
You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I command you to do this." (Deut. 24:19-22)
1. "Piracy" or better named media and software torrenting, is a form of this as a poor can copy software and media before paying for it. If the poor paid for every bit of software and media, they would quickly get into debt, which is sinful.
* it should be obvious that if you are capable of paying, you should in whatever fashion. Case in point, I watched Frieren and Bocchi with streaming buddies outside of "official" services and the Blu-Ray/DVD disks, yet I bought merch both to appreciate those series and support the Japanese makers.
2. Streaming is not a suitable replacement as the services demand compensation and you cannot listen as you please or use files as you please. You are forced to use such as the service and the rights holders allow, which goes against the spirit of the gleaning laws.
3 Unlike gleaning for sustenance, which involves thing quickly consumed for mere survival, media and software are the heritage of hard work by the people and archiving and remembering is a duty. Files that are lost, is work wasted. Media and software businesses don't care for archiving. People do, and the free access to files enables secure archiving.
4. In the current context, many creators, rights holders, and services are actively evil, not just towards God and His Kingdom, but also to your people, Whites, Americans, Southerns, gamers, weebs, and the like. They hate you and supporting them with funds is wicked. Nevertheless, if they hold a good thing hostage behind a paywall, you may bypass that until both you have a sufficient income and they repent of their evil against your people.
5. Note that the Law elsewhere forbids actively harvesting a field that was not one's own. In this case, the modern equivalent is profiting from torrented material somehow, even through a patronage system for any site or tech involved with copying. If you do torrent, copy or spread files, you do it for free at your own time, resources, and expense. No more.
That's a quick and dirty summary of how I would argue this.

@mactonite
If you didn't migrate to Micro$hit's account because you know better, you lost what you paid for.
Remember, piracy is no longer a mere right because of God's gleaning laws. It's a moral duty.

@SuperSnekFriend i haven't played it for a couple of years, but i heard they started banning users from playing for their chat messages and forced microsoft account integration meaning if you get banned from microsoft for any reason then no more playing.

And C418 himself got backstabbed by Mojang. You reap what you sow. :02_sip:

@branman65
It's like Lucas and Star Wars. It was done out of stress, frustration, and anger, than anything else. Notch was pressured and stressed all around due to Minecraft's insane popularity, as well as some bad development decisions on his part. Plus, he married and then soon got divorced from a gold digging Swedish woman, and his relationship with his staff at Mojang was souring.
I obviously don't think it was good for Minecraft, but I don't blame Notch himself for selling it.
