   Not sure if this is old news, but apparently a subset of incels are transitioning because they think the can do better as women in the dating market.
   
   This group never fails to surprise me.

     @Metamedia Psychopaths have a vested interest in avoiding therapy for the same reason paedophiles do: anyone knowing they're one just gets them hunted

     @Metamedia Bluntly I've met people who I were *sure* were psychopaths who transitioned purely for social capital before, the fact that people who are just miserable and desperate could be driven to a similar solution by it isn't that surprising

     @Metamedia Oh yeah for sure, but a lot of people prioritise self-development while neglecting self-realization anyway (e.g. depressed workoutbros)
     
     All it really needs is a lack of introspection. Of course in the sphere of transness this means some people mistakenly transition and then regret it, and then get held up as examples by transmisic people concern trolling and using detransitioners as leverage to advocate for gatekeeping 🤡

     @hermit tbh what I find harmful is that, if you change your entire identity, body, and social environment – whilst still not identifying with any of those things – that CAN'T end up good

     That's not even a term I throw out willy-lilly, I'm using it in the literal sense of having a kind of inscrutable "inner hollowness" that not only manifests as a lack of empathy but also "something deeper."

     @Metamedia Also, no, pre-emptively, I'm not saying trans people aren't 💯valid💯, I'm not saying people don't transition for more legitimate reasons, etc. etc., and yes I'm aware that transitioning opens you to new avenues of prejudice, but in the social arenas these people existed in (e.g. FOSS) it was more possible to leverage for social capital.

     @hermit @Metamedia They need all the attention as their ego is unmeasurable and draw very bad attention to the trans community. They are also deeply exaggerated in their behaviour. Some remind me of movie silence of the lambs that wanted skin from women to dress in.
