I'll admit when I see world events unfolding that I feel could have far reaching consequences and I see people dismiss it off hand, I get angry. I don't want to believe "nothing ever happens" because I guess some part of me believes that regular people still have the ability to resist GRC in a meaningful way. I also consider jaded cynicism a leftist trait and don't like seeing it among ourguys. That said, I guess I'm just coping because I felt for one fleeting moment that I had changed things for the better in 2016 and it's been all downhill ever since. I don't know what's coming down the pipe but I know it's nothing good and I know that nothing can stop it and that's what gets to me.

Things have been moving pretty quickly since 2020 when you step back a bit. Things never happen with the immediacy extremely online audiences clamor for, but they are in fact changing. Russia being able to invade Ukraine and seize territory with little more than a stern warning and hurling money at the Ukies does in fact show weakness in the American Empire. Just because things aren't going as well or as quickly as we hope doesn't mean everything's the same. -

The Ukraine war has been an unmitigated disaster for the US, hundreds of billions wasted plus sanctions and Russia just laughs at us. Houthis attacking trade routes is another thing the US is unprepared to deal with. And we seem to be less and less capable of servicing our debt. Also a Trump presidency is starting to look more likely as Kamala's numbers are getting closer to Bidens. In 3 months we could be singing a different tune.

We have to remember we are online. Most "happenings" don't pan out, but a few of them that do pan out make a big difference. Brits chimping out might not lead to anything, but it only takes one of these "uprisings" to turn into something serious to have massive ripple effects. War with Iran doesn't break out today, maybe it happens another day, or maybe it happens somewhere else. Putting all your emotional energy into the happening of the day will burn you out. Check in every once in a while, but don't get too caught up in the noise. -

That shifting around you mentioned also started to happen around 2020 as well with people leaving for more socially compatible states with political leanings they prefer. Most of the moves took a year or two but also included some political migrants like Californians who went to Texas going back.
