@coolboymew >implying that apple isn't apply to buy the data >implying samsung doesn't have agreement with apple to share the data Top journalism and top user knowledge.
@mangeurdenuage@coolboymew Well if they're using Signal that would be a pretty major speed bump considering the kinds of data Signal is willing to give out, even to federal agencies.
@mangeurdenuage@coolboymew The caveat here is that I'm not suggesting Signal is secure or that there aren't ways to extrilfate data from the devices, I'm purely arguing from the perspective of introducing enough speedbumps that Apple's anti-unionization efforts are at least significantly hindered, which I think it is effective at (especially since Apple is not a state actor and has historically had poor relationships with the intelligence community in the US where most of the organizing effort is based)
@mangeurdenuage@coolboymew Unless everything in the PRISM leaks was doctored, there is more than enough circumstantial evidence to suggest Apple's poor relationships with glowies. As for your suggestion of post mail, that would "work" in the sense of (usually) being free from tampering but the latency is too high to effectively react to current events from an adversary who has all means of instant communication available to them, USPS is staffed with incompetents from top to bottom, and there's nothing suggesting Apple can't sabotage *that* either, especially given how lawless SFBA is in the present day.
@netdoll@coolboymew I agree but one has not not live into a false sense of security either.
>especially since Apple is not a state actor and has historically had poor relationships with the intelligence community in the US where most of the organizing effort is based Don't you think that apple and/or the feds could just lie ? I mean it's not like apple recently scans people's files even tho users didn't agree to it.
From my perspective post mail is more secure and you don't need a mobile phone to unionize.
@mangeurdenuage@netdoll@coolboymew ever since tim apple took over and they're suddenly introducing encryption workarounds to scan for csam i i wonder if they're under a lot more pressure lately
