Even then, my checklist-before-tooting looks like this:
1. Will someone threaten to harm me or my family when I post this?
2. Do I have the time or energy to evaluate and push back on rude commenters, reporting baddies to instances?
3. Do I have other conversations which will get drowned in the muck after posting? Two of these three can be mitigated by judiciously closing comments on other platforms. We should have it here too.

But the problem here is that I can't moderate what I don't read. So we can either have:
1. Unmoderated slime, or
B. Burned out users moderating their comment sections. All because Mastodon doesn't give us a third option to block replies. I should be able to close a thread when things go zany.
(This is not an invitation to tell me about other software that does this, I'm intentionally singling out Mastodon.)
murph :amiga: repeated this.
