   @Floyvid_Ninesneed The problem is that this is conflating the handful of truly deranged women, with the far more common ones that just joke about it.

   You could flip this around and conflate men that joke about committing acts of extreme violence with actual serial killers, and it would be about as strong of a condemnation of men as this post is about women.

     @dew_the_dew @Floyvid_Ninesneed If the guy in 50 Shades lived in a trailer park, it would have been a horror novel. The fulfillment was in an average-ish girl being noticed by a young, handsome billionaire, who then became obsessed with her. While he was abusive at times, the dude also showered her with expensive gifts, and he eventually bought her a publishing company so she could “pursue her dreams” and become an editor.

     Think of how much shit people would put up with in that situation, especially as a woman that was previously struggling to support herself.

     I’ve never read the books, but I know enough about them to know that their popularity isn’t quite the condemnation of female sexuality that some people think it is.

     The Columbine shooter fangirls and the women who fuck "thugs" in the hood and get abused by them aren't much different. They wanted to fuck the former in particular because they were good looking and had aesthetics.
     
     Adding to that is the fact that in popular mythology with school kids they're depicted as bully slayers even if that wasn't the case, moreso because of the fact the school did have a serious jock culture that other schools still have (or variations of it.) The same goes with thugs who seem like total badasses from their rap videos.

     The joking about wanting to be raped and murdered and just passing that off as being edgy or dark humor or whatever is one thing but 50 Shades of Grey being one of the best selling books of all time is a far better indicator regarding why the 19th amendment was a mistake.
