     @itsfoss Maybe my memory is deceiving me, but wasn't there the same attempt back in 2006 with a fork sometime around 2008? I don't remember the name, but it was supposed to do the same thing. And it ended, if memory serves, on something like dependency hell.....
     In any case, I agree with Keep It Simple Stupid.

     @itsfoss The fundamental reason is that the libraries of each distribution are different, which leads to different packages (The package names are also different.).
