     Walking to a grocery store alone in an American suburb feels like being a protagonist in a horror movie because the empty, car-centric environment feels like a liminal space, similar to an empty hallway at night.

     These spaces are unwelcoming to pedestrians and create a sense of isolation and vulnerability.

     This is a great illustration of the importance of walkable communities to promote health, community, and personal freedom.
