@Yellow_Heart@prouddegenerate so if you want christian magic that certainly "feels" like magic, there's a lotta coptic stuff like that
but if you are asking for something like that i think you gotta spend a moment thinking about like 1) what is magic 2) why do you want to practice magic 3) what do you need to do to make magic work
i do not think that these papyri (or, frankly, any of this, unless you really want to get into ceremonial magic in the dee->oto->crowley->etc etc tradition but like, that stuff is bad news bears unless youre sticking right with dee imho) represent like off-the-shelf solutions to things so much as they are an example of ways of thinking about things
think more about the method of production of these than the actual product themselves yknow
@prouddegenerate@Yellow_Heart sorry degen what you want is daoism where you just like write something with your left hand and say youre calling the thunder troops
@bless I’ll have to read all of these thank you. do you know anything of old christian magic? I know most of the documents have been lost or destroyed.
hard to make heads or tails of a lot of this but this is one of the more fundamental texts of western esotericism (right w/ agrippa and hermes trismegistus) and shows based autist john dee in conversation with like 4 different languages with a bunch of spirits whose names are represented by triangles and '...' while himbo chad edward kelly takes notes and daydreams about fucking john dees wife
i just opened to a page where kelly is somehow getting his shit rocked by a bolt of fire
@Yellow_Heart@prouddegenerate i am also not exactly certain what your perspectives are because you are definitely 🚨 ENTERING GNOSTIC TERRITORY 🚨 with this stuff
if you are looking for more straight-and-narrow christian mysticism i would look at like the cloud of unknowing (its on my shelf i still need to read it ugg theres so many books)

I belong to no Denomination if that is what you’re asking. I am just exploring each and every belief. in my eyes all traditions and beliefs must be rooted in some aspect of the truth. so its best to study them all. To be a Christian living on the earth is a ever ending chase after Christ. trying to learn trying to understand. its all in the pursuit of my lord.
