And that's basically it

@splitshockvirus @benis Still not as bad as node, plus OTP builds are completely self-hosted.
-
@mint @benis
Requires elix*r and er*lang.
-
@splitshockvirus @benis You can still customize the code and build your own OTP, that's what I do at least. Search is flaky either way, especially if you don't have RUM enabled.
-
@mint @benis
OTP is what I should have done, I was never going to customize my source code anyway. but my other instance uses OTP and I assumed that was the reason the search bar doesn't work.
-
@mint @benis
it might be the RUM instances then. idk I just need to reinstall that instance anyway it's been online for like 2 years at this point. But the search bar for certain never worked and I assumed that was by design, you can only search for things that your instance has discovered. I now know that's not the case.
-
@splitshockvirus @benis >you can only search for things that your instance has discovered
Well, yes, it does a search against local objects database.
-
@mint but it should also be able to search for remote accounts. I'm unable to do that on one instance. I end up just tagging both accounts with an account that has already discovered both.
-
@splitshockvirus Ah, remote account search. Searching for full AP ID (https://instance.tld/user/username in masto/rome, some other servers might have different paths) usually works, but just tagging them and clicking preview is still faster for me.
-
@mint I mean one doesn't work at all.
Empty one is 2yr OTP, populated one is my current with source and latest Erlang. RUM instances are what makes these entries? I can even query posts.
-
@splitshockvirus Dunno. I've used RUM since the beginning and haven't had much trouble with the search.
