It does kinda worry me that kids are now taking romantic cues from these. the japs move phenomenally slow in dating, or at least they do in their weebery. Holding hands with your crush is something you get excited over when you’re 12 and practicing square dancing, and the simplest thing in the world on a date once you’re old enough to do that.
I don’t know if they’re genuinely that awkward or if they just have to pace themselves to not burn through too many milestones. I do worry that lots of these writers are near sexless weirdoes, though, and that’s why they can only write about the early, exciting, and relatively unfulfilling part of courtship early on. There aren’t that many works that really tackle the exciting and wonderful early years together when you’re both finding new fun, lovable things about each other.
