     Falls apart easily since dq monsters is already simple enough with pokemon literally just making it more simple by making you manually do it instead of the monsters ai doing it

     @Vidmastereon Ever since awakening came out and the writing was on the wall that the series was undergoing permanent normgroidification, old school fire emblem fans became very introspective, regularly putting out very well articulated explanations for what each games strengths and weaknesses are, how they could be improved, what they would have done differently, how mechanics could be modernized and built upon in better ways than what happened, etc. Yet every single time these guys have gotten together to make their own fire emblem-like, be it a rom hack or an original game, the results have been dogshit. For whatever reason, simply loving a genre and knowing it inside and out isn’t on its own enough to capture the essence of it and produce something worthwhile.

     It's still an inflammatory take because the people working in these fields are young an highly motivated to work. You can't expect them to have the same experiences as older generations because that way of life doesn't exist.
     
     Osamu Tezuka legendary manga author lived through WW2 bombings. Yeah bro let me cook up another world war so we can get more experienced creators. (Not happening)
     
     Modern creators problem is that they aren't experienced, not necessarily in life but in the fields they work in. Calarts being a good example of the problem as apparently they don't respect older creators either because they're old or problematic. By cutting off old techniques and history you cut yourself off from the knowledge of how to do things. Old Pixar referenced and learned from anime. Creators in the 80s and 90s were referencing anime. Despite any quality issues from back then those old cartoons are still miles ahead in animation than modern works.
     
     As for video games older developers were just more experienced. Considering they could produce legendary games in the span of a few months compared to modern devs that need two console lifecycles to make anything. Real world experience won't help that, they are simply not skilled enough and their organization is bad.

     @zemichi @Remi @Vidmastereon the issue with videogames is that most feel factory made, "optimized" by a group of people that hate the medium and the consumer, motivated purely by financial gains, aiming to have a product that offends no one and caters to all, in other words a mediocre game with no appeal and staying power. Compare that to older games that had a clear audience, and were more often then not spearheaded by someone that knew what he wanted to make and had a passion for his project

     Implementing a game is a different skillset from noticing flaws. Same goes for shooting a movie.

     @BroDrillard @PurpCat @jimmybuffettfanaccount @Vidmastereon To be a good critic, you need to be able to identify and articulate real problems, but to be a good artist, you need to be able to understand and implement real solutions, and the greatest of both need at least the first part of the other. You can find this pattern everywhere as with the arrogance that being good at one side implies being good at the other ("This is terrible. I could make a better ~." "Don't talk to me until you've made your own ~.").
