   For now I'm comfy throwing out some thoughts:

   1. This is my 'bureaucratic ataxia in action'. The true believers of the reddit religion think they're taking things into their own hands hoping to prove their righteous zeal to their gods (reddit, marvel heroes, civil rights nigs). They actively make things worse for their own cause unknowingly, because they're too stupid to realize their ham fisted plans actually embolden their enemies

     Now an interesting angle on staffing:

     1. Bureaucracy paralyzed the sniper glownigs and prevented them from firing. Hesitation in acting was disincentivized because the entire law enforcement scene is filled with a dozen different agencies, departments, and teams. The guy watching the disfigured troon might have been thinking that the local PD's UC guys are awfully ugly, or mentally thinking through the end of his career if he took the shot and killed an "unarmed, innocent attendee"

Now, the most interesting angle is the praetorian guard: The secret service and their ilk probably aren't big fans, who's to say they don't hate him just as much as CNN watchers, and they all have been deliberately understaffed by their management with the intention of leaving holes in these appearances?

     Who knows how the breakdown works, you got 5 RW guys in a 12-man team? Why wouldn't a true believer sit there and give the assassin just two breaths of time before acting, mentally telling him "Come on, if I wait any longer it will look too suspicious!"?

     Frieren didn't get fat in her first 1000 years despite being indulgent and lazy most of the time - so I guess she won't now.
     Fern on the other hand...
