The hotel I'm staying at has normal, "basic" WiFi, but then "high speed" premium, paid WiFi. I'm only using the basic WiFi because it's free and I don't want need to pay for some higher speed connection. But, the hotel also block some websites which I'm using a VPN to circumvent...and my connection on VPN seems faster than without VPN. I'm wondering if this hotel is just artificially slowing down their WiFi connection for people using the "free" internet package vs. genuinely having a faster, premium connection. I.e., we're all on the same connection, but unless you pay the hotel money, they intentionally slow your connection down.
