     @Terry @Dudebro as far as I know, ヤンキー are just generic street punks and drop-outs, yeah. Not a specific gang or subculture in and of themselves

     @Dudebro apparently there is some crossover with the biker gangs but for the most part the "Yankees" just seem to be teenage punks

     The subs are actually really good. Rumor has it they used ai and it might be bias but there isnt fucking zoomer humor or the school changed to some weird western name so it might be true.

     @Dudebro in the translations they refer to Koshitan as a "delinquent" but in the original manga she is referred to as a "Yankee" or "Yanki" which is a specific brand of street punks. Apparently they are such assholes, despite not being an actual criminal organization, they are pariahs among mainstream Japanese society.
     
     They're basically 1950s greasers in the modern day and the Japs consider them trash.

     @Terry @Dudebro I think the pipeline is usually Yankii -> Bosozoku -> Yakuza, but I don't know personally. I've heard the Yakuza recruit from them, or at least used to. I don't know how common they are these days, though. Probably a dying subculture.

     Now I'm starting to wonder if the nuisance streamers are going to end up mobbing up into extremely annoying gangs in the future.

     @japananon @Dudebro thats kind've what I gathered. The nearest analog would be a "greaser" from the USA 1950.
     
     I guess maybe some greasers joined the mafia, at least a local crew, as an associate.
     
     Do you know of any instances of "Yankees" ヤンキー becoming Yakuza?
