Should people without kids who own pets be shamed?
The immigrant has 2-5 kids, the European/White American has dogs and cats. At what point do we start shaming these people?

Pets are good as playmates for children, bad as replacements for children.

@irie_new yes.
:alert: Unpopular opinion incoming:alert: : Pet culture is anti-natal in nature.

@ArdainianRight @irie_new Fine. But I remember a time (the 2000s) when it was odd to show people pictures of your dog or cat and buy them stupid costumes to wear like they're your child. This has changed and now pet ownership is a replacement for family formation for many young women.

I agree with your core argument, just highlighting how this is a distortion of the natural order, in which kids get pets to teach them responsibility and let them practice caring for another living being to give them experience for when they have a family of their own. This is the opposite, a way of getting around the natural order instead of bolstering it.
