   I read in the news that the EU have planned digital ID for porn and would also require it for social media by 2027. You would have a digital wallet that could identify you with social media and everything that involves a age limit. I wonder how non EU residents living in EU would do that. Since I am from Norway. I know EU citizens have EU identification. Seems like a terrible idea the whole thing that started with trying to control porn. (Supposedly) I really don’t think politicians care about minors watching porn and no amount of propaganda will make me believe that. I think law enforcement and intelligence agencies are lobbying the politicians

     "EU Citizen" isn't really a denomination, there's no EU level identity issuer. Member states issue their own ID cards and keep their own databases. People who are currently living in EU countries are "EU Residents", but again this is a de facto status, there's no real database of people with EU Resident status.
     
     If there are countries in the EU whose governments WANT to do this, they might move to ram through some directive which allows them to do what they want - but if a country like France says "non merci" then the ones who are implementing it will look mighty stupid, so it's likely a non-starter.
     
     "European Law Says You Have To" is a total farce, it may work against small countries like Hungary or Greece, but "you have to" is just not something you say to the world's 5th largest military power with a mature intelligence service and nuclear weapons.

     @cjd @Diceynes You are a buger (according to Germany) also i find it hilarious that eu residents are forcrd to scan there face (in America you can refuse face scans)

     @dcc @cjd I find it worrying that people aren’t aware that the whole western world will at some point manage to get the digital identity on the internet. It’s too strong forces working to get this. And the consequences will be that nobody will say what they really think online and total control of narrative. The internet is last and only place for people to discuss things. They of course started with age checks for porn and people will go along. But the real target is social media. The holy grail to be able to control

     @dcc @cjd Americans get a identify card here in Spain. And EU residents get a EU identify card, I may be mistaken but at least they got a identity card. I have to use Norwegian passport. It’s already expired. Have to travel 3 hours back and forth to Norwegian embassy in Fuengirola in Malaga to renew it. Pain in ass

     @dcc @cjd Some people here get a national identity card and some don’t. EU citizens and Americans get the one with photo. And I get just a piece of paper
