i'm not sure how to feel about the filian drama now
she effectively profited off of an artist's works without permission through unauthorized merchandise, which isn't nice
but now troons and fags are now entering the scene going "yeah she's also a racist and hurt my feelings by saying bad words that don't actually hurt me or directly call harm to me or my friends, family, or fundamental humanity"
i know filian's clinically retarded most times, but between a retard and literal animals, while both burning is fine in my books, i don't want to let the savage animals eat

@ninja8tyu @rainignterror1080p Filian has always called herself a "Vtuber in training" and is probably the reason why she doesn't give a shit about the originality part. Just change a few designs from the stolen model and then meme it. I think what's funny is that Filian has been about the second most popular Vtuber for so long while donning a stolen vrchat model this whole time. 😆

it's effectively not hers in terms of about everything but her personality, which is why there's a big drama around monetizing the design itself
also pretty much irl example taking place of my main reason i took up art and creatives

making merch off of something you didn't make yourself is something i'd have to be stupidly keenly aware of if i ever did it

GSC is also partially at fault. For some reason they didn't notice the original artist as well when I'm sure designs get at least credited for the product even if they don't control the IP themselves.
The entire situation is ironic though.

Yesterday to prove a point I had done research to find If the original artist was ever mentioned in relation to Filian. There is one, the gamersupps merch page.
I don't know when this credit happened, but let's say it happened at the start of merch sales. It's pretty damming. If the original artist never had a deal with Filian then this means this gamersupps merch had commissioned an artist to do the artwork. So a situation occured where the original artist never got paid for their work but another artist was paid to copy their work. Very fucked up situation. :back_to_gab:

depends on if filian genuinely went and say "yeah i own the model" or something, or if GSC came up to filian with the presumption and made a business deal there
it's all behind the scenes and currently filian's getting the most flak, now that i realized
regardless, wouldn't have happened if filian wasn't as retarded as she is, but oh well. whatever happens next is more a show than it is something to worry about

people are effectively free to do as much bad as they want until then

@ninja8tyu @zemichi @ehhh Yeah it's a cost-benefi analysis, for an artist it's not worth the effort to chase randos on Internet using your art. However if it's a popular person with a permanent online presence and likely a lot of money, you could shake a decent amount of change out of them for less effort.
