     Thinking of ways I can train him incorrectly sinc3e I know they never read anything, if I can get him to break something quick enough I can get him descheduled and off to the next place

     How is it that I'm seeing more nepotist hires of old people than young ones?

     @qwerty He now has to stay at home 24/7 after spending life on the road, and his marriage cannot handle cohabitation. Pilots get extremely picky about their lives because they're alone on the road so much. Airline chodes spend all their off time hanging out in nice hotels, so being home with the wive and adult kids pisses them off

     It's interesting how it goes, IDK if truckers are the same

     @qwerty And he's forced out at 65, if you work for an air line you're forced out legally. Imagine if doctors at 65 were kicked out and only could legally work entry-level jobs or be a resident. Sure, this guy COULD do better, but it's laid back fun work where he can get out of the house for a few days at a time and just party on his own

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @qwerty Truckers and logistics dudes are the same story but there is a lot less money involved, so the catty attitude and expectations aspect of the woman is much lower.

     @DemonSixOne @qwerty I've assumed we have whitecoat syndrome. Any time a job is life or death, and there's a command structure, the type A guy who climbs to the top and becomes a captain gets too stuck up to ever be told "no" by his lessers

     I see it with lawyers, surgeons the most. Having to fly with them in the club was insufferable, they think being competent there meant you can't call attention to their shortcomings elsewhere. It's why the old bonanzas became the "doctor killer" back in the day.

     Truckers are alone, they don't have the rigid structure of teaching kids and adrenaline dump debriefing after almost getting killed at the wheel

     Reminds of couples who get into sailboat cruising or full time RVing, but the inverse: they work perfectly well as long as they're on the road or out to sea, but the longer they stop anywhere, the more likely they are to break up or cheat.

     @Christmas_Man @qwerty Yeah, it's like that. A fren pointed out that pilots are only ever home when they're in "weekend mode", excited to be off work for a couple days. So every time they hang with the wife it's a 3-day weekend. Suddenly he's home full time with "nothing to do" so he can help out with the chores, cleaning, all those renovations she couldn't do alone!

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @qwerty The other thing about trucking is that as you settle down into it there's options like local drivers and terminal work that have you home every night which is where most of the dudes with families usually start to gravitate to. The big OTR hours guys are either real young or old dudes, often divorced with adult children.
