   currently having an issue with rk3588 in reform next which supports x4 lanes on its m.2. but when i enable x2 or x4, the link is downgraded to pcie gen 1. when enabling only the first lane, the link trains at gen 3. i wonder if this is most likely a refclk(s) quality issue or one or more of the higher lanes have SI issues.

     @mntmn or cross coupling between lane 1 and 2, so each in isolation looks and simulates good?

     @mntmn mhhh Hope I'm not misleading you on this. Your situation did echo a link training pb I witnessed... Thought it was mechanical but I Got to Falk with a friend who followed the case to thebend and apparently It was a faulty bios... So that might not be a mechanical issuebafter all... I did have problem with sketchy PCIe breakout cables though. This might be worth trying. But now I'm not so sure anymore.
