WOO! Just in time for the end of Pride Month, we have for you here a page-by-page dissection I helped write, along with Jessica of Boolean Union and a few others, of Jack Chick's "classic" homophobic screed, The Gay Blade.
As a reaction to the early gay rights movement of the early 1970s, it actually serves as quite an interesting piece of queer history. By going off on one about various magazine articles and media appearances, Chick accidentally gives us here in the future an interesting reading list of things to look up to get a vibe of how media in the 70s portrayed early Pride protests and gay culture, and it gives an interesting picture of how much things have and haven't changed in the last 50+ years.
CWs for religiously motivated homophobia apply throughout.
