Bootless Buck (bootlessbuck@mastodon.social)'s status on Sunday, 30-Jun-2024 08:48:02 JST Bootless Buck @nixCraft we had an intern do that last one. We wouldn’t let him leave, because no one else could login, but he still had a session, so we needed him to stay logged in and be our hands on the system. We were able to recover eventually.

But oh my god, setting 777 permissions to the ENTIRE system? Who would do such an awful thing? I'm pretty sure anyone who actually would should be locked up as a menace to society. They're probably a serial killer too in fact.

It was a learning experience, for sure. From the resulting chaos, I decided to actually read a book on using Linux instead of just winging it.
