Thinking about selling my Acer Ryzen that I got at the beginning of corona time and replacing it with a slightly older Intel laptop (T480?) for broader cross-platform support and less BIOS quirks
-
Ideally something that could run musl-linux, the BSDs, 9front, macOS etc. without fuss
-
Should also get my X200 repaired in the meantime and running OS/2
-
@netdoll Not sure about chog9, but the rest would probably work fine as long as you have compatible wifi card, assuming it isn't soldered on mobo in nu-chinkpads.
-
@netdoll If it doesn't have graphics acceleration, it might not be worth running baremetal to begin with.
-
@mint I don't care about graphics acceleration *that* much unless I'm using normie shit which demands it.
-
@mint Yeah I know all of the above work with a T480, at least to the extent that they install, most basic functionality works, and wireless networking is available either out of the box or via third-party drivers (in the case of macOS)
-
@mint (also what's chog9? Is this what the /qa/ degenerates are calling 9front now?)
-
@netdoll Pernia meme.
-
@mint Ahhhhhh, same deal then
-
@netdoll That reminds me I still got the macOS VM with GPU passthrough running. It just works, but emulated ich9 sound is a bit choppy.
