Actually I’d use it for system monitor because I really just want a dash panel to show a bunch of info at all times that doesn’t take up working space. But the chicks are fun, too

Maybe it’s just because I’m always scanning instrument panels but it bothers me not being able to see the entire state of my machine, whatever it is. Stuff like this is funky, and low-impact, because it uses real estate already in use. Less impactful in this small size, and keeps you from relying on it too much. A full side panel would end up tempting you to use it too much, like a nother full size screen, messing up your workstation. But this size is good enough for a glance reference piece

sometimes I wish I had an excuse to buy a graphics card. Haven’t touched mine in…….years. Wherever I go now I play dumb and say “I dunno HOW to work any of that video editing stuff” since all the old folks are eager to turn their biz into a youtube opportunity

If it’s your only job, then you can maybe make it work but most boomers aren’t privy to the level of work that goes into a finished media product, they grossly undervalue everyone’s work but their own. Pretty easy to fall into a pattern where the boss asks if you know how to do it but you aren’t doing anything but adding to your workload for zero extra pay. They really think it’s as easy as filming whatever they’re selling or talking about the industry and they’ll be drowning in new-media business

@fishsticks @special-boy Yeah, so far I haven’t seen anyone come out in the green. At best it’s like “I’ll give ya 20 bucks!” for an 8 hour project. Same thing as when they ask for graphic design, they think they can get their entire branding redone and written for $200

It’s easy to not notice that your eyes are trying to compensate for the way it’s set up, if you have it too close. I find most TV’s are fine for me with about 4 feet of space.
If you grab the little portable ones they work with everything. I plugged in a friend’s the other day and it even works on my old-ass phone, anything with USB-C seems to be able to extend the desktop. Handy capability
