By the way, my research on data portability has mostly concluded and now I'm implementing it in Mitra. Among many improvements it will bring, there is one that will help onion instances communicate with the rest of Fediverse. There is no requirement for direct connection between servers anymore, and the protocol will allow you to create messages on your onion instance, and distribute them to everyone else via clearnet gateways.
