@enigmatico@mk.absturztau.be Recycling is a spook designed by industry to justify and excuse continued widespread plastics use and the manufacture of purposefully expendable consumables designed to break or become obsolete. Seriously, recycling is bullshit. It doesn't work. It's never worked. It was never actually meant to work. It's a PR ploy. @thomholwerda@exquisite.social

Most people don't throw the cap into the toilet (someone will do it, but rarely).
The reason why there is so much trash in the ocean is because other countries spill the trash into the ocean. And it so happens that we're actually sending our trash to these countries. -

Dont get me wrong, I'm all in for the environment and all that, but this law is stupid and whoever thought about it should be fucking fired or whatever.
And yes, I know the point is to say that Apple is worse than other companies that do comply with the EU regulations, but also have in mind that they do not have a problem in doing so. They will charge you more for the packaging if needed. Problem solved. -
Itanium Thom (thomholwerda@exquisite.social)'s status on Monday, 24-Jun-2024 03:44:10 JST Itanium Thom The EU enacted a new law a while ago that all bottle caps should remain attached to the bottle, to combat plastic trash.
All the bottle and packaging makers, from massive multinationals like Coca Cola and fucking Nestlé to small local producers invested in the development of new caps, changing their production lines, and shipping the new caps. Today, a month before the law goes into effect, it's basically impossible to find a bottle without an attached cap.
I don't know, I thought this story was weirdly relevant right now with Apple being a whiny bitch. Imagine being worse than Coca Cola and motherfucking Nestlé.
