@FruitpilledPeachcel @not_benis I'm not proud of this at all but eight years ago I almost killed my laptop by accidentally knocking down a large plastic bottle of water that we used as a gravity bong and then sitting there stoned, watching the water gush into the keyboard for two or three seconds until the screen shut off
I still have no idea how it survived, we left it disassembled in a drawer full of rice over Christmas holidays and when we put it back together it worked perfectly. I think it's still functional, but it smelled pretty funky for a while

@grips understandable, have a safe day
-
@not_benis @grips This exact thing happened to me a week or so ago except I didn't have a protective shell 💀
I only left it to dry, but I think I had luck because even if the laptop was slightly wet, it still works as good as before.

@grips you really should remove the bottom cover and disconnect the battery
-
@not_benis brother this is a company issued laptop, doing that would void the warranty and put me in trouble in case of further malfunctions
I'm not happy about it either but it is what it is
-
@not_benis OK now it suddenly booted, after I dried it out and put it in my bag I suddenly got the empty CMOS beep but after that, the whole boot process works. it keeps booting on its own though, I'm gonna put sheets of paper inside it and the shell and let it dry some more

@grips depending on how long the internals have been wet for, one or multiple components of the hot rails could have corroded already. You need to take it apart, disconnect the battery, and asses the damage.
-
@not_benis I can ask dad when I come home later today. though it's a non-removable battery
-
@grips if you have a multimeter, measure the battery voltage

my laptop is not turning on :cirnopeek:
